Out of a rut

For the past couple of weeks I've felt like I've been stuck in a rut. Stuck going through the same motions every day and just not really having much fun doing it. A couple of factors made me feel this way:

  • Work has been rather boring and completely unchallenging lately. It seems like we're not getting that many calls and most of the web projects I have been so invloved with are either complete or have been axed by management. This leaves me with little to do but sit here and surf the same 34 websites I surf every day. If you haven't tried this (but I bet you have), it gets old. I'm definitely the kind of person that if I don't have something challenging to do, I get bored real fast.

  • So I leave work and go home and do something exciting, right? Wrong. I go home, spend 1 or two hours playing Playstation2 and then eat dinner and watch TV. Totally worthless. Lazy, even.

  • Speaking of laziness, I've been slacking really bad when it comes to CustomTacos. Up until a couple nights ago, I had barely touched the site since the beginning of January. Things were getting behind. I had been planning a forum upgrade for a while and had just been too lazy to get it done. Truth is, I feared it would be a difficult upgrade, so I was putting it off.

But the good news is that I feel like I'm finally coming out of my "winter slump". I decided that I was going to upgrade the CustomTacos forum Sunday evening and I did just that. The upgraded provided more than enough excitement to keep me busy at work all night Sunday, all day Monday at work, most of last night, and part of this morning. Yeh. It's been a journey. I posted a semi-funny ad on the front of the site for a weekly group chat I'm starting this week on the site, so that should be fun. I feel better knowing that the site isn't as stagnant as it was a few nights ago.

As far as the rest of things: work probably will continue to be slow, I haven't touched my PS2 in two days, and I've got a bunch of other things planned for the near future. One of which is to finally get off my butt and move this blog over to Movable Type.

I think it's all about motivation. Nothing is really motivating me here at work and I was having trouble motivating myself to do anything at home.

Let's hope I can keep this up.

Let's see some more "Jeffy's Tech Art" projects! Do you have anymore old unneeded parts lying around? Bust out those old parts, some scotch tape and some Elmers glue and get crafty, man. That'll keep ya busy!

Ah, the winter blahs....gets ya every time!

These occasional 50-degree warm-up days are frustrating...they always make me feel better, but then it just gets cold again!! Grrr. Can't wait til spring comes!!

Did anything ever happen regarding the incident with your car and the parking garage? Hope you feel safer....

Don't kill her man! She means "TRUCK"! ;)

Anyhow, it's good that you're getting out of the laziness rut. Productivity rocks! :::go web::: Anyhow, make sure you've got a pant-load of patience when you start with MT templating, because it's not exactly as smooth as Greymatter. If I can recommend something, I'd avise setting up templates with dummy data FIRST, and then import when you're finally ready. Nothing's more frustrating than having to manually check 400 boxes.

Once it's running, you'll be managing things SOooo much easier than GM could offer. But it will take patience (and perhaps trips to Instant Messenger - peer2all, or MT's bulletin board. Both are quite helpful)

Nice job on the chat advertising! Just like the old days, eh? ;)

If I had a blog, I think I would've posted almost exactly the same thing! (insert x-files music here) Winter sucks.
