We're Being Invaded

Our house is being invaded by these little wormy-crawly-caterpiller things. They're not really silverfish, I don't think, because they're not flat enough.

Anybody have any idea what these things are and how I can wipe out their existence? I've killed probably 30 of them in the last week.

Silverfish can be found here: http://entweb.clemson.edu/cuentres/cesheets/hhold/ce188.htm
What we have are not silverfish. They're just little caterpillar-like things. They could be worse, right? :)

Yea. They could be running around inside your ear canal. Don't get me started on friggin' silverfish.

Anyhow, not to worry Jeff. This is a minor pest. I saw (and got) one of these guys before my Chicago trip. Haven't seen another since. I think they're seasonal. Keep Gizmo out, and hopefully your problem will fix itself. ;)

Still...nasty lil' guys, aren't they!?

I think they've a version of millipede. And from what I've read they tend to gather where there's wet or rotting mulch and plants. I imagine with all of the rain and the mulch beds being as deep as they are, they just love our yard!

I bet they would make good Carp bait!

Well believe it or not I actually have some knowledge on this one. Having lived in many new homes in my life as my family moved quite a bit I can tell you all about these buggers. We always called them centipedes. They come up after new construction has disturbed the ground and when things finally settle down(when construction ends) they emerge by the millions. They are very gross and impossible to stop, but they wont last forever. After a while they will subside and you will rarely see them again.
