Man. What a day. The past 24 hours have been filled with nothing but computer problems. It seems that just about every computer I've come near has had problems.
It all started this morning. My cell phone range before I even got out of my truck in the parking deck. Dead G5 tower. Upon getting to work I confirmed it. The machine would turn on, but no startup chime and no booting. Dead. Swapped the hard drive to a new machine.
My PowerBook has been having problems lately with the LED on the front button randomly blinking while the machine is on. It's not supposed to do that. But last night, I opened it up to the sound of a sad hard drive: "Clunk.....Clunk....Clunk" I turned it off and rebooted. Everything seemed fine. This morning, same deal. I decided it was finally time to call it in the Apple. But that meant tranfering my data to another machine while mine was being repaired. No fun.
Shortly before lunch, I got a bunch of email and private messages on CustomTacos telling me that the site was having some problems. I went to the site and, sure enough, the site was in turmoil. After looking further into it, it seems that part of the database had gotten corrupted and was causing the site to completely hose up. One server reboot, 2 tables repaired and three hours later, the site seemed to be back to normal.
Then a call came in about another G5 up in studio not launching programs. Sure enough, nothing would launch. Four hours and an operating system reinstall later, the machine was back up and running, thanks to some help from Tommy.
It's really a good thing I didn't touch many other computers than those today. Let's hope tomorrow is a brand new day.

Do you think some of these problems were caused by the newest virus out there?
I still think you're the best "fix-it" person around. Maybe they went wacky because they wanted you to pay some attention to them.
