March 6

Mark your calendars, everyone. March 6th. I have now secured that Saturday as the day that I will be heading up to Northern Virginia to install my 3" OME (Old Man Emu) lift kit on my truck, with Jimmy's help. Oh, and did I mention that I recently bought a new set of wheels for my truck? They're 16x8 TRD Ivan Stewart series wheels, purchased from the friendly folks over at McGeorge Toyota.

That's them. I should have a new set of 32" tires mounted on my new wheels by March 6th so I can bolt them up to my truck after the lift is installed. By the time I'm done, the truck should be about 3-4" taller than I am now. My only fear is that it might not fit in the parking deck anymore. But, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Until then, I can't wait.

Make a list, get crap done

This weekend was one of the most productive I've had in a long long time. When I got home Friday after work, I sat down and came up with a list of stuff I wanted to get done. As the list became longer, I worried that I might not get it all done. This has definitely been the case before. But, I figured it was worth a shot.

I woke up early (that's 10am for me) on Saturday to begin a long day of working on freelance web work. For about 7 hours, I scanned images, cropped and resized those images, and made numerous changes to the websites for my clients. I finally finished up around 5:30 or so, just in tome for dinner with the fellas.

I woke up Sunday (a little later than "early") and watched the beginning of the race. I decided that if I didn't get away from the TV that I wouldn't get my stuff done. I forced myself outside where I did some further troubleshooting on my truck's knocking problem, switched out my punctured rear tire with my spare, took the bad tire to Firestone, and then washed and vacuumed my truck. I sealed the deal by putting our 2004 county stickers on both vehicles.

By the way, I narrowed my truck's knocking sound down to where the radiator bolts on to the body. I found that when I loosened one of the bolts slightly that the knocking stopped. Even better, when I tightened the bolt back up, the knocking didn't come back. So hopefully it will be gone just as mysteriously as it came.

Burying Myself in Work

I've managed to bury myself in extra-curricular work once again. I've got web projects in progress for mrsmarshalls.com, metisse.com, paulbertholet.com, virginiabertholet.com (Paul's wife), show-n-shine.com, and suellengregory.com. Oh, and I'll be picking up webmaster duties again for XMUG this year again beginning next month. Oh, and don't forget my normal maintenance with CustomTacos. Oh, and this site which gets updated...sometimes.

Wow, I think I've really got myself into a mess. I need to learn to say "no" to people. Anybody want to help me out and take some of this work? :(

Birfday Number Twenty-Six

So it's February 2nd once again. I've never understood why people celebrate the person who's having a birthday; they should be celebrating the person who had to endure having that child. Thanks, Mom. :)

Mom, Dad and Jennifer came to town on Saturday afternoon to help me feel old (don't worry, it didn't work). Even though it had only been since Christmas when I last saw them, it seemed like longer. We talked TiVo, I opened some gifts, we ate some dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, and then enjoyed mom's famous Chocolate Eclair Cake back at the house. Always a yummy treat!

I was totally blown away when I opened my first gift and read the side of the box "5.1 Megapixels". Holy crap. Yeh, a camera. And not just any camera. A kick ass Nikon E5400 5 megapixel model. This thing rules. It's got a movie mode which can shoot either 320x240 or even 640x480 movies with sound. They also gave me a 256MG memory card for it, since my images will be taking up significantly more space now. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

We headed over to Brian's apartment Sunday evening for the Super Bowl, highlighted by a nude streaker on the field, Janet Jackson bearing all for the world to see, and some mediocre advertising. I have to say that I wasn't as impressed with the ads as I have been in previous years. Nonetheless, it was a pretty exciting game, coming down to the last few seconds.

Here are some images I've shot with my camera so far:

My first subject. I'll call it "DSCN0001".

Boredom set in during the middle of the Super Bowl. Bring on Survivor!
