I got to the house last night to see something kinda shocking. So shocking that this was my expression.
And then Olivia arrived and she a had a similar reaction.
So, here's what we were so surprised to see:
Sod! And Bushes! And trees! And mulch!
Ok, so maybe it's not that exciting to everyone else. But for me, this signifies that we're just about done. We walked in side and found that the entire house has been cleaned top to bottom, spic and span. When we opened the front door and saw it in a completed and cleaned state, it finally hit home that this is really going to be our new home.
So, we walked around and checked out the progress made: they put in the mantle and the slate for the fireplace. They still need to fix the carpet and trim around the fireplace, but we've still got 2 weeks until we close.
Since we had sod in the front, I just had to test out the irrigation system. After a quick reading of the instructions on the control panel, I began manually testing each of the 7 zones of our system. I didn't even know we'd get different zones. I just figured it was just an all on/off thing. It turns out that it's a pretty sophisticated system with all kinds of timers and cool stuff that I haven't even figured out yet. Very cool.
It looks like the only things left to do are: put in the mailbox, put in the refrigerator, put in the garage door, fix the fireplace area, and other general touch-ups. And about two weeks left to do all of that.
