Gettin' Out While the Gettin's Good

Sometimes I think back on our house selling experience (which is still not quite over) and mostly think it was a huge headache and am partially disappointed with how we did. But then I start looking around at our neighbors who are still on the market now. Our two-doors-down neightboors who were listed at $249K $244K are now down to $239K. And then yesterday, our next door neighboor, Kelly, listed hers at $232K. And just last week, another new one went on the market up the street at $229K. I can't figure out what's happening to the market in our area. I feel really sorry for them all, especially our neighboors who put their house on the market the same time we did.

So, the moral of today's story is: However bad you think you've got it, somebody else is having a worse time.

Our house inspection was this morning..sortof unexpectedly. The inspection was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but got canceled because the buyer couldn't make it here. We were never told what the rescheduled date would be until our agent atempted to call me laast night. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my phone in my truck last night, which meant we were rather confused when the inspector arrived at our doorstep this morning. We weren't prepared. In fact, (ironically) the plan was to go home tonight and fix all of the holes in the walls and basically tidy up the place.

The inspector found a few minor things wrong, but nothing major. Mostly drywall problems, doors that close funny, and a window that needs work.

We also closed on our Equity line this morning, which should secure the funds we need to make our nice™ down payment on the new house.

This whole house selling and buying thing sure hasn't been pretty this time around. But, we're getting through.
